Nancy Kleer is a partner at OKT and practices in Environmental and Aboriginal law. She has a B.A. in Biology and an M.Sc. in Ecology. She has provided legal assistance in responding to a variety of resource developments on behalf of Aboriginal clients, including mineral exploration, mining, hydroelectric development, transmission corridors and forestry. She also advises on federal and provincial environmental protection and assessment law, and has appeared before various environmental tribunals and has done a variety of civil litigation for First Nation clients.
Nancy provides legal advice and does legal drafting on issues addressed in negotiations for comprehensive land claims, Aboriginal self-government, Impacts and benefits agreements with resource and industrial developers and First Nations, and settlement of long-standing grievances between First Nations and Ontario Power Generation and Hydro One Networks. She has also worked on the completion of a number of trusts for First Nations. She has done extensive legal work to establish new Indian reserves and additions to reserves under the Additions to Reserve Policy, and provides advice on Band Council governance issues and reserve land management. Nancy has also served as a board member for a variety of charities and non-profit organizations.
