Chief of Attawapiskat First Nation
Chief Carpenter has provided various services to his community throughout the years including serving as chairperson and on the board of directors for committees including Keewaytinok Native Legal Services, Niska Non-Profit Housing Committee, etc. Chief Carpenter has also worked for various construction, mechanical, electrical and maintenance companies responsible for the creation and development of his community’s infrastructure.
Chief Carpenter has previously served as the Deputy Grand Chief of the Mushkegowuk Council and Band Councilor of the Attawapiskat First Nation. Chief Carpenter is a graduate of Canadore College, as well as Cambrian College, where he completed the Native Land Management program with honors. He also attended Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Arts program and Canadore’s General Arts and Sciences.
