IAN J. BANNON
General Manager of the Anemki Mountain Corporation,
Councilor, Fort William First Nation
A member of Fort William First Nation graduated from Selkirk Collegiate and
Vocational Institute in 1983, at which time he was selected by the Department of Indian Affairs as an Apprentice Electrician with Transport Canada. His successful completion in the trade led him to serve as an Electrician with Transport Canada, Ministry of Transportation and Ontario Hydro. After leaving the trade in 1992, Ian pursued a career in Property Management with training through the Institute of Property Management in Sudbury, Ontario and the Ministry of Housing.
Throughout his tenure, Ian served as Board of Director with Beendigen Inc. and
Native Community Corrections Office for Fort William First Nation.
After serving five years as Property Manager/Executive Assistant with an
aboriginal agency in Thunder Bay, Ian brought his training and experience to his
own community in 1997 as General Manager of the Anemki Mountain Corporation, managing 150,000 square feet of commercial office space. He is also currently serving a consecutive term as Councilor for his community where he was selected as Lands Claims committee member, which ultimately led to his recent assignment as Lands Manager for Fort William First Nation.
