Alderville First Nation
Dave Mowat is an elected councilor of Alderville First Nation, who before being
elected in July 2007 worked as Alderville Economic Development Officer (EDO)
for 11 years. Amidst this very dynamic position Dave was instrumental in helping design the Alderville Community Trust, the investment vehicle created for Alderville’s Casino Rama allocations.
From 2001 to 2007 Dave sat as Chair of the Trust, a position he took pride in and a position from which he sometimes had to defend the philosophy of the Trust but could also tout its accomplishments in the community. Dave completed an advanced history degree at the University of Manitoba in 1994 and outside of Trust and Council business studies and researches his community’s history including his own history related and writing projects.
For over 25 years he has remained an active musician, a side career which
balances the other aspects of his life. Dave no longer sits on the Trust but as
Councillor defends its mission and its record in the community of Alderville First
Nation.
