CHIEF THERESA HALL

Chief
Attawapiskat First Nation

Chief Hall is currently in her second term as Chief of the Attawapiskat First Nation.

Prior to becoming Chief, she served as a full time presiding Justice of the Peace for nine communities in Northern Ontario for over sixteen years. She was the first Cree woman to sit as a full time Justice of the Peace in Ontario. She was a founding member of the Indian Friendship Centre in Cochrane and she was a founding member of the Métis and Non-Status Indian Association of Ontario. Chief Hall is also past Trustee of the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane, where she was a provincial appointee. Chief Hall was involved in the preparation of the curriculums for the Introduction to Cree language and Intermediate Cree Language courses at Laurentian University. She also taught the Introduction to Cree Language course.

Chief Hall is a graduate of Laurentian University, holding a Bachelor of Arts in
Native Studies.
